Lazy Day

The view from my eyes most of the day today. It's so wet and gloomy here, the day was best suited for relaxing, knitting and catching up on blogs and tv favorites.

Dog KAL Update #12 **Final Update!!

Kelly posted a photo of Buca in his sweater, I think it looks great!!

To everyone who participated in the Knit Your Dog a Sweater knitalong, I thank you. It's been a fun experience to host a knitalong and it's something I'll probably do again.

I had big plans for Casey's blue & black sweater, I mean BIG. They will still happen but I won't have it finished by Saturday (the last day of the knitalong). You will all be the first to see the finished product modeled by my super accessorizable dog.

It's All I've Got

Sadly all I have to show for knitting progress is this dishcloth, which I knit for Project Spectrum. On the other hand, I have a big fat paycheck headed my way for all the other work I've been doing. I hope you stick with me as I inadvertently ignore this blog for a while.

Crazy Week

So it's been a little crazy around here this week for various reasons and none that are too exciting or even relevant to anything...just busy.
I have been re-addicted to knitting the Mason-Dixon warshrags however. I knit a set of pink ones for a co-worker who is getting married in a month. She absolutely adores the color pink so all the gifts I got her are pink. Tomorrow is her bridal shower and as soon as I'm finished with this blog update, I'll be making a batch of deviled eggs for the said shower.
Addicted to Dishcloths
This morning I snapped a couple of photos of Casey giving me kisses before I left for work. Yes, I allow him to kiss my face and I know there's many more out there like me. Dog love, there's nothing else like it!
Kisses from my boy
Earlier this week my favorite sister-in-law turned the big 4-oh and I sent her a special little gift wrapped up in my home made gift bag. Happy Birthday Paula!!

Over the weekend I made a small quilt for pins (my sister-in-law introduced me to these), fashioned after a quilt I saw online somewhere but I can't remember where. Hopefully this coming weekend I'll get to pinning a larger quilt that I've been meaning to finish for years. Yes that's right, YEARS.

Dog KAL Update #11

Lizz finished a sweater for her adorable Brittany, super job Lizz!!!

Miss T started Dr. Evil's sweater over again and it's looking good so far!

Well, I'm getting closer and closer to the end of this dog sweater for Casey. As I was knitting at Splatgirl's last Friday she said "now you know why I chose a bigger gauge, huh?". Thanks so much for pointing that out!
I know you're probably getting soooo sick of the same 'ol photos for the knit along, I *hope* to have something better to show you next week!

The Perfect Day

Yesterday I arranged for someone else to see my patients and I headed Southwest to my friend Splatgirl's. It was sooo nice relaxing and knitting and chatting without having to hop up every 20 minutes to change laundry or answer the phone or wash dishes. We even watched this weeks LOST again...can you even believe what's happening on that island??

Mast is such a calm dog, he was able to stay still long enough for me to get some up the snout photos, Casey never sits still long enough for that.

I knit a little bit on my Sock Hop sock and ate my dessert of choice, Tiramisu.

And here's proof that I actually worked on Casey's sweater as well. I've actually reached the raglan decreases on the front so soon I'll be starting the sleeves and it'll all be downhill from there right? M-Ah came to explore and rub her scent all over it...Casey hasn't noticed yet. Thanks for a fabulous day Splatgirl!

Celebrate Good Times

My brother made Senior Master Sergeant in the Air Force, whooooo hoooo! Congrats C, we're very proud of you! I hope he gets real patches soon, the paper stripes aren't very flattering.
And yes, K & I went all out for our 10th anniversary last night. He started out his day by visitng me at the office for a nice gentle teeth cleaning ;-) Then early in the evening we squeezed into our best jeans and headed out for a nice steak dinner at one of the best steak places in town, Jax Cafe. On the walk into the restaurant, it was snowing to beat the banshees so by the time we got in I looked like a wet dog and Kyle looked as though he needed Head & Shoulders extra strength. Fast forward to after dinner...we changed into our best sweatpants and lounged around with Casey. Ten years, how can you beat that excitement?

Dog KAL Update #10

Miss T started Dr. Evil's sweater but she wasn't sure it would fit him. In fact, later in the week it was ripped. Keep trying Miss T!

Siris has a finished sweater but the silly puppy isn't modeling it correctly! And he likes to steal his mama's knits when she's trying to take photos.

Buca should have a sweater by now, Kelly was going to mail it off last Friday. Do you think Buca's legs resemble bananas? Great job Kelly!
Do you see that up there in that new photo??? Yup, the back of the sweater is actually off the needles and I've already cast on for the front. The back is the biggest part of the sweater so now I'm on the home stretch, just in time for Spring...or maybe Spring training ;-)
Usually Casey sits very still and allows me to take several photos but today right after the one and only photo I took, he started stretching and wiggling and rolling around. I think he definitely has Spring fever.

Two more official updates before the end of the knitalong!

I Adore Daylight Savings

I didn't get a whole lot of knitting done on my socks this weekend but I'm not complaining! We spent a bit of time with some friends who were back home for the weekend. R, we should have updated a photo together so we could get rid of this one!
The snow has been melting faster than we received it, it seems. Today it was well into the 50's.
And daylight savings marks the days when I can take decent photos well into the evening! Ya-hoo.
There are quite a number of events coming up this week so hopefully I'll be on the ball enough to get you some decent blog updates.
Oh! The socks are being knit with Sock Hop Great Balls of Fire. It's super cool yarn to knit with, the color combonations with the double plying keeps me going...I always want to know what it will look like as the rows fly by.
Casey was far too rambunctious to get a clear photo today, I think he enjoys daylight savings as much as I do!

Horney Dog

Since I can't seem to get things together in my world to finish a sweater for my own dog, I took the liberty of purchasing a horned muff for my seriously accessorizable canine. As I mentioned in the Dog KAL update on Tuesday, this muff was made by Bella's mom. Her etsy shop is here.
The muff arrived today right after our walk & a quick bath and Casey hasn't taken it off since!

Really Random Post

In the last few weeks I've realized:
*I really like my nails clipped short
*I don't miss buying yarn, it's actually a bit refreshing to knit from my stash
*I've really missed the huge MN snowstorms we used to get when I was younger
*I'm addicted to puzzles (sudoku, crosswords, mah jongg, etc.)...I'm determined to not get Alzheimer's
*I secretly wish I was from Canada...I LoVe their accents and they get more snow
*I don't spend as much time sewing as I would like

Random tip of the day:
When folding laundry, use the dryer sheet to dust something around the house before throwing it away.

I really hate that Blogger doesn't give me the email addresses of commenter's, so for that I apologize. I really wish I could answer your questions that way. For now I'll be posting answers to questions in the comments of the same post that the question was asked so if you ask...check back for a response! I decided to do it this way so if other readers are curious about the answer they can find out too. And to all that lurk or comment, I thank you for spending time here!!!
Check out the super cool space age carts that my local Target has, they drive as smooth as they look too. Oh how I love Target! Apparently Splatgirl was thinking the same, we always say we share the same brain!

Dog KAL Update #9

Mercysmama started a sweater for Mercy, and then she finished it! Isn't Mercy the littlest thing ever?
I recently was introduced to a new Weimaraner blog, It's All About the Bella. Her mama even crocheted her a pretty muff.
Casey has given up
Do you think Casey has given up on me??

Pinwheels

I am the queen of starting projects and then letting them sit partially completed for what seems to be forever. Last September I started this tiny pinwheel quilt to use in my bright green bathroom and last night I finally sat down and finished it. It's not perfect but it's finished and I love it.
Oh yea, you probably want to know what I was sewing in this post. It was another corn pillow, this time I gifted it to my father in law.

Weather Permitting

This blog has temporarily been converted to a weather blog. Unofficially we have 19" of snow and it's STILL snowing, it feels like I'm in a snow globe but I love it. This is what Minnesota winters are supposed to be like! It's been too many years since we've had snow like this.

I've left descriptions of the photos at Flickr, just click on the mosaic.

White Out

Once again we've been over taken with snow. I was sent home early from work so I think I'll spend my afternoon doing something fun like knitting or reading magazines. Stay warm out there!
